DESCRIPTION:Please join us Thursday\, May 5\, 2016 at 7:30am for our next CAC Networking Breakfast featuring Big Shoulders Fund’s work in Foundational Mathematics in collaboration with the CME Group Foundation\, the Robert R. McCormick Foundation\, and the Erikson Institute. \nWith support from the Robert R. McCormick Foundation and the CME Group Foundation\, Big Shoulders has partnered with Erikson Institute\, and others\, to support the advancement of early childhood mathematics with a special focus on preschool and early elementary students.  Over the last five years\, the initiative has included more than 100 teachers who in turn have impacted more than 2\,500 students at Big Shoulders Fund schools. The panel will address some of the current research as well as efforts underway in Big Shoulders Fund schools to support its youngest learners. \nWithout a strong foundation\, a tall building would not stand for long. Likewise\, without a strong foundation in mathematical concepts — such as patterns\, size\, and shape\, and location and direction — children can struggle to understand the more complex mathematical thinking they need later in life. Please RSVP by Wednesday May 20\, 2015 to Colleen Sprague at csprague@bigshouldersfund.org A little more on our speaker: Anne Pramaggiore joined ComEd in 1998 to work on the companys transition to competitive energy markets under the Illinois Consumer Choice Law of 1997. In her role as ComEd’s lead lawyer and as head of Regulatory Policy\, she led major policy work around the restructuring of the Illinois electric industry. In 2009\, Pramaggiore was appointed as ComEd’s COO and became responsible for overseeing dayto day operations on the electric grid and in customer operations. In that role\, she led the company effort to set the legislative framework for ComEd’s smart grid build-out\, a leading model nationally for modernizing one of the largest utility systems in the country. Pramaggiore was promoted to her current position in February 2012. She is the first female to hold the post of president and CEO at the electric utility. Pramaggiore serves as a board member of Chicago Federal Reserve Board\, Motorola Solutions\, Inc.\, and several civic and community organizations. She is a 1989 graduate of DePaul University School of Law and served as editor-in-chief of the school’s Law Review. She has a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Theater from Miami University in Oxford\, Ohio.
