NWI Volunteer

Volunteering your time couldn’t be easier with Big Shoulders Fund. We know people are busy, but they still want to make a difference.

Our supporters come from all backgrounds, from partnerships with large corporations to volunteers from local parishes and alumni organizations. Our schools and students have many needs, and your support makes a world of difference. Below are some of the many ways individuals and companies can get involved with Big Shoulders Fund Northwest Indiana.

We always have exciting events coming up for supporters from all walks of life. If you have a taste for golf or banquet dinners, casual happy hours, or rolling up your sleeves to help revamp a school, we have many different ways to get involved and meet other people who care about our schools and students as much as you do.

Join us at Lost Marsh Golf Course (Hammond, IN) for the second annual Big Shoulders Fund Northwest Indiana Golf Classic. All funds raised will benefit the Founders Advisory Council Scholarship, which will provide critical tuition assistance to families seeking access to high quality, values-based educational opportunities for their children.

Join us for an immersive experience in the classroom, interacting with students and participating in programming, to see the difference you are making for nearly 6,000 students in our 20 schools. This event, hosted by the Big Shoulders Fund Northwest Indiana team, places you at one of our Big Shoulders Fund network schools located throughout the Northwest Indiana region. School visits will be followed by a networking lunch at Lost Marsh Golf Course (Hammond, IN).

Join us at our one of our all-hands-on deck Give Back Days throughout the year or organize a Corporate Service Day for your team or Employee Resource Group to help out at one of our 20 Northwest Indiana schools. These events are one day service opportunities where you can spend part or all of the day making an impact on a school.

Work directly with students by mentoring a group once a month during the school day, or sign up as a tutor to assist a student once a week in a specific subject area.

The Founder’s Advisory Council (FAC) was founded with the goal of growing awareness for the mission of Big Shoulders Fund Northwest Indiana and expanding its supporter base by engaging professionals and local companies in our work through volunteerism in schools and on committees, outreach to the community and their networks, fundraising, and more. The FAC uses their diverse backgrounds, experiences, and professional skills to contribute to the mission of Big Shoulders Fund.
