Fellows

Join the Big Shoulders Fund as a member of the Fellows Program and have a direct impact on our schools as you push for enrollment through marketing and community organizing. Get the word out to the families of students who would benefit the most from a quality, values-based education. Candidates should be motivated to help build enrollment in schools throughout Chicago under the direction of the Big Shoulders Fund and local school staff.

This is a part-time, paid marketing-focused internship based at Big Shoulders Fund supported schools in the Chicago region and Northwest Indiana, under the supervision of local school staff.

Required Qualifications

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; superb interpersonal
abilities
Capable of both a high degree of independence and teamwork in
responsibilities
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Innovative and creative approach to tasks
Energetic and enthusiastic about helping schools with demonstrated need
Interest in Marketing & Communications, Community Organizing, Education or Non-Profits
 Must have access to reliable transportation daily; this position is based at Big Shoulders Fund supported schools in the Chicago region and Northwest Indiana
Able to commit 15-20 hours a week for 8 weeks (June through August)

Responsibilities

Support the marketing and enrollment efforts of individual Big Shoulders Fund schools by assisting with related tasks, including:
Designing and producing marketing pieces (e.g. brochures, direct mail flyers)
 Updating/supporting social media pages on behalf of school
Participating in phone banks to follow up with prospective parents
Canvassing local school neighborhoods with support of school parents and/or teachers
Completing other marketing and enrollment focused tasks as needed

Some evening and weekend hours required. Must have access to reliable transportation daily. Ability to converse in Spanish would be valuable.
