Early Elementary Science Partnership

Over the course of a multi-year partnership program called the Early Elementary Science Partnership (E2SP) the program collaborators developed a suite of science units designed to be implemented in participating E2SP science classrooms. These units were intentionally aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and support best practices in science curricular resources such as connections to local phenomena, opportunities for student-driven exploration, and incorporation of authentic student assessment.

The following units have been revised in collaboration with the E2SP team and teachers in order to strengthen the NGSS alignment and enhance connections to current best practices in education.

Current Program Partners

These science units were collaboratively developed through the Early Elementary Science Partnership by the program partners at the Big Shoulders Fund, the Chicago Academy of Sciences / Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, the Field Museum, and Northwestern University. Each unit is licensed under CC BY-NC-ND.

This partnership is made possible by the efforts of Rita and John Canning. E2SP is supported in Big Shoulders Fund schools by a grant from PNC.
