Scholarships

Big Shoulders Fund has been providing scholarships to deserving students since 1987. We provide more than 60 different types of scholarships that vary in duration and amount awarded — it all depends on the scholarship.

Our students come from every corner of Chicago and they represent the diversity of the city: Nearly 80 percent of students identify as Black or Hispanic, 30 percent are not Catholic, and 70 percent reside in low-income households.

Here at Big Shoulders, our mission is clear: to provide students access to a quality, values-based education that helps them reach their potential.

No donation is too small or too big to be used to support a child’s dream. This year, more than 4,200 students are benefiting from more than $8.5 million in scholarships. While funds are limited, we do our best to provide support to those students who are willing to work hard in school.
